Let's skip all this stuff about the world hating me. (John 15:15-16:1) I like the idea of being a peacemaker. But .... it does seem like peace is only a part of the picture.
And Jesus' words do sound like a promise: "But since I picked you to live on God's terms and no longer on the world's terms, the world is going to hate you". (The Message)

Why would a servant like me get better treatment from the world than her master (Jesus)? Jesus says that the world will act hatefully because they don't know the Father.
Maybe He is now warning us because: "I'm no longer calling you servants because servants don't understand what their master is thinking and planning. No, I've named you friends because I've let you in on everything I've heard from the Father." And also because "I've told you these things so that when the time comes and they start in on you, you'll be well-warned and ready for them."
Yes, Jesus is a true friend. Even though I tend to think a child of the King (me) should have comforts galore, I realized there is a war going on - the spiritual kind. And the King has sent the more than sufficient comfort of the Holy Spirit with His word of truth. We will not be caught off guard or surprised - resulting in a nasty fall.
Thank you Lord for Your loving warnings. Help us to listen up and be saved.
