The Name Forbidden

The religious rulers thought they had those ring leaders. They'd quickly squash the crazy Jesus fanatics. The problem was that the lame man was still leaping and the people were mighty excited about the miracle done through Peter and John.. So the rulers put the two in the middle and queried, "By what power or what name did you do this?"

Then Peter (filled with the Holy Spirit) gave them an ear-full. He declared that "It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed." Whew! Talk about courage!

The religious guys are astonished by Peter's boldness and really don't know what to do. So after conferring together they "commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus." Hmm....

The answer of Peter and John is one for all ages - even for us. They said, ""Which is right in God's eyes: to listen to you, or to Him? You be the judges! As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard."

Lord, give us the boldness to be authentic - to speak the grace-filled truth in Your Name. We look for Your courage to say Your name - even when it feels forbidden.
