A most fascinating sentence is in our reading today (John 5:18-29). '"Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, 'Truly, truly,(emphasis His) I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner (even in the same way).' "
This word looks like the key to Jesus' power, love, authority, and amazing life. His submission sure was evident in the Garden. Down in verse thirty, Jesus says that "I can so nothing on My own initiative". He repeats that perspective in John 8: 28, 12:49 and 14:10. I think He wants us to get the point.
