A New Address

What a journey we go on in the reading today (John 16:16-33). Jesus' friends are confused, frustrated, warned, encouraged, faith filled, warned again, and finally given that life sustaining address for peace. And it is a short address - two little words - "in Me".

In fact Jesus says that all this talk has been so that they could get to this new place: "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace." And what a wonderful experience we can enjoy at this new place:  "you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I've conquered the world." (The Message)

So the key seems to be to stay at "in Me", continuing to look to, be at home with and trust in Jesus. After all He did win and can take care of anything out there.

So let's stop running out to fix all those difficulties ourselves. Come back to "in Me", get His agenda, work with His grace and power, and enjoy deep deep peace.
