A New Name

I was happy to get a new identity this morning. All this time we've been calling Jesus' disciples around Him friends, but in our reading today (John 15:10-16:15), that is what He calls us! The deal is that as we seek to do what He tells us, we stick close to Him like those around Him. "If you keep my commands, you'll remain intimately at home in my love." (The Message)

The great thing about being Jesus' friend is that He reveals to His friends secrets from the Father that not everybody knows. "I've named you friends because I've let you in on everything I've heard from the Father." (The Message)  There are really a lot of awesome things to learn in the kingdom of God. I think we just might be getting to the bottom of page one. The best is yet to come.

Also friends have a special bond and look forward to getting together and enjoying each other. They really delight in hearing from each other. How great is it to have a Friend named Jesus!
