Can you believe what Jesus does at the end of this most intimate and final long prayer to His Father (John 17:20 - !8:11)? He prays for you and me: "My prayer is not for them alone (the disciples around Him). I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message".
We must hear what His last prayer on earth for us is about. "That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you." Do you get these words? He is asking that we put away our petty feuds and divisions and become as one as He and the Father are one! Wow!
I believe we do see that in disasters and great needs. All parts of His body come together to help the hurting in urgent times and the labels are subordinate. And the great goal Jesus says is that " the world may believe that You have sent Me."
So, Lord, we agree. Help us as believers to become one and perfectly united as You and the Father are. Then we will be the family that outsiders find attractive and believable.
