Love Story

Have you ever in your life seen a better love story than that in our reading (John 20:11-29) today? Devastated Mary is crying outside the tomb. It is so heart wrenching that people keep asking her why she's crying. However, the second person that asks is her lost love, and when He says her name, she knows.

Doesn't this thrill you? Doesn't it give a glimpse of Him saying your name one day?

But Jesus goes on to give Mary a mission - to tell the others. Wouldn't you have relished seeing her announce to the guys, "I have seen the Lord!"?  I'm not sure how much they believed because they are still in locked door hiding when Jesus drops in for their personal experience that night. After showing them wounds and scars, they did believe and rejoiced - except for missing Thomas. He got his own revelation a week later. His response was, "My Lord and my God!"
However, this love story seems to end with an appeal to us who were also missing at those first disclosures. Jesus says, "Even better blessings are in store for those who believe without seeing." (The Message)

Ladies, that is you and me!

Lord, help us to believe and revel in Your love story for us.
